Description

The race in Vall de Boí is the last of the four races that make up the Marathon Cup by Scott & Taymory. Just like the others, it takes place in cup format to allow two different categories: XCM over approximately 56 kilometres; and/or XCC over approximately 35 kilometres. It is also possible to take part in the Open (non-competitive) XCC or XCM races.

This event also forms part of the Buff Mountain Festival, is included in the activities organised for the first weekend in July in Vall de Boí and will be the deciding race that closes the Marathon Cup 2018.

The route begins in the town of Barruera and travels a distance of six kilometres along the banks of the river Noguera Ribagorçana, ascending one side and descending the other to return to the town of Barruera. The riders will then follow an asphalt road to the town of Durro, passing by the Romanesque chapel of Sant Quirc and the pine forest of Durro to the end of the road, where they will begin a descent that, although not very long, is quite technical due to the cattle tracks they will need to navigate. The second climb follows this descent, which is longer and will take riders up to the height of 2,250 and the Boí Taüll ski resort.

After this second climb, riders will begin their descent to the ski resort road for the third climb. Starting on an asphalt road, it soon switches to cattle tracks (where more than one rider will need to get off their bike). Once at the top, there is another descent requiring great care on the extremely fast track.

This descent will take riders back to the town of Durro, where they will once again pass by the chapel of Sant Quirc to begin their final and most spectacular descent (all single track) through pine forests and almond trees to the finish line in the town of Barruera.
