For the second year, Cambrils will host the Scott Marathon Cup MTB.
The race will begin at 9.30 a.m. right on the seafront on Passeig de les Palmeras in Cambrils. From there it will head into the streets of Cambrils before reaching the Riudoms stream, following it upstream to the 15-km mark in Maspujols. The route has a slight incline, 300 m of elevation gain, and although this shouldn’t necessarily require much endurance, the sandy ground will make it difficult to progress at each pedal stroke, as if the incline were much steeper.
Once in Maspujols, XCP participants will head through the mountains for 2 km, taking them back to the Riudoms stream, in a downstream fashion, while XCM participants will enter the forest at the foot of the Serra de La Mussara mountain range, passing through Aleixar, Vilaplana and Selva del Camp, running mainly along forest trails and paths, surrounded by typical Mediterranean vegetation.
When both XCP and XCM participants meet again, they will finish off the remaining 15 km of the Riudoms stream and, after passing through Cambrils in search of the Alforja stream, the last 2 km, before the route comes to an end on the seafront once again, next to the waves, where traditional local food will be waiting for them and where they will be able to share their experiences with other participants and spectators.
The Cambrils event is suitable for all levels, which means that the XCP race is not particularly difficult from a technical point of view, albeit incredibly epic, due to the hardness of the ground found along the route. As for the XCM, the latter Maspujols stretch, spanning 30 km and 1,000 m of elevation gain, has no technical areas but is highly enjoyable and heads deep into the area’s most characteristic forests, providing the race with a special contrast between sea and mountain that will leave no-one indifferent.
